If you vote …

When (if) you vote think about what it is supposed to mean.  Keep in mind what it means for someone to represent you.

If you are voting for the leader of the party then you are not voting for someone to represent you.  You are voting for someone to represent Canada.

If you vote strategically, then you are not voting for someone you want to represent your interests and, likely, they never will.

If you vote for someone whose leader silences the Members of Parliament, then you are not voting for someone to represent you.

If you vote for someone who always votes along party lines, even when the constituents disagree, then you do not have a representative.

If you vote for someone because you it is “your” party, then you are not wanting someone to represent you;  You want a club to be in.

If you vote for someone because of a single issue, then you do not believe in a representative democracy.

Partisan politics have no place in a real representative democracy.
