Stated Intent v. Reality

Does a group whose stated purpose is to “promote a life without religion or superstition” fit into the list below? Is “promotion” the same as “proselytization?” In my opinion, if the Laurier Freethought Alliance were to remove the line referring to promoting their beliefs and stuck with what they argue their intention is, then there would be nothing to quibble about.

The group says they meet to discuss topics among themselves. Conversion, so it appears, is not their goal. As such this group should be an official Campus Club. As long as they aim to proselytize the group should not.
