Where there is no time, the vacuum is filled with all the points of time at once: Time as a singularity. Kurt Vonnegut now smiles down on us from this vast nothingness.

Which is worse: living a life of meaning and purpose and not being recognized or living a mediocre, quazi-influential boring life and only being celebrated only for the reason of celebration. Which is worse? Being denied the famed which has been earned or seeing someone else earn celebrity status for no other reason than her ability to coordinate a warddrobe?
I present to you Kurt Vonnegut and Belinda Stronach.

Kurt Vonnegut, mercy and peace be upon him, died today at the age of 84. Belinda Stronach’s political career never had a chance to truly live: it was still-born and no one noticed. What had she done to warrent everyone buzz-buzzing about this moents after it was public? That is all anyone was talking about on Progressive Bloggers and the Blogging Tories. Who gives a damn!!?

Kurt Vonnegut, may he rest in peace, left a legacy and he will be missed. Belinda, on the other hand, can have her seat filled with another pretty face. Maybe this time the face will gain celebrity by action rather than mere presence.
Vonnegut can’t be replaced. He won’t be replaced. But postings about Belinda have already been replaced by the next “big thing” whatever the hell that may be. And it ain’t Vonnegut. Vonnegut is not the next big thing. He is huge and I hope he spits down on the scourge that is the earth. Especially those who only have use for the sensationalistic. I hope I have sensationalized this enough for you to consume. I doubt it. But for now . . .
Vonnegut has Flown the Coop.

funny stuff….hey I’m coming to winnipeg beginning of june. perhaps beer is in order?
Beer is always in order . . . as matter of fact I might have one now while watching Harrison Bergeron. A Vonnegut short story turned into a moving picture show.
Let me know which days you are here so I don’t double book myself. Give me a call when you get in the city.
Cheers
Thanks for this blog. We are two friends in Argentina really Vonnegutians. We start a new bookstore (olds and rarities specified) that take his name (We hope not in vane).
For all those about the Vonne: We salute them!
