Experimental Awards 2005

It is time for the first annual Experimental Awards. These awards recognize the contributions to The Experiment from my commentors. Everyone is eligible but you must have entered by commenting on this site. Much thanks and applause to all who entered but there can only be one winner per category. Winners and runner-ups (where applicable) were determined by myself, Elijah Rintrah, based on strict criteria that I developed myself. in certain circumstances the criteria was ignored as it did not fit who I wanted to win. Deciding the winners was not easy and is not a task I take lightly. To those who did not win, I am sorry but you can rest assured that there is great honour in knowing that you were nominated. (Everyone who posted was nominated by myself.) For those of you who did not enter, shame on you. Shame. Shame. Shame. And here, in no particular order, are the winners.

Best Complement Award
Winner – marmalade for her trackback to Not News for November 28th. Plus I am considering learning how to knit now. (Is there anything special I need to know before I venture out to buy supplies?) Thanks.

Runner Up – aaron for suggesting that my site is Onion-ish. aaron does not win because this site is not in the same league as the Onion. But thanks anyway.

Most Awkward Complement Award
Winner – William Wylie for his comment on Answers That Slap You in the Face

I’ll be directing other conservatives this way, so they too, can see for themselves what socialists and socialism are all about.!

Best Criticism
Winner – Paul Vincent for forcing me to re-think and re-analyze what I had written. Thanks.

Worst Attempt at an Insult
Winner – William Wylie for stating that I could not argue my “way out of a wet paper bag.”

Runner-Up – William Wylie for calling me a socialist like “[my] father (commie Jack Layton)”

2nd Runner-Up – William Wylie for telling another commenter to “take another vacation in CUBA.”

Lamest Threat Ever
Winner – William Wylie for threatening to bring more visitors to my site.

Most Over-Dramatization in a Comment
Winner – William Wylie for repeated incoherent and ridiculous rhetoric in comments, and the overuse of the words “commie” and “socialist.”

Racist Ass Award
Winner – John R for his comment on Valhalla On Earth because he seems to want to ignore the history and culture of “white people” in which other races were considered to be inferior.

Greatest Commenter
Winner – aaron for continued clarity and ego-boosting. And for actually reading and contributing something to the site.

Best Off-Site Responder
Winner – Anacharsis for questioning and correcting any idea pre- and post-publication.

Conclusion
While William Wylie won the most awards I don’t think we could assume that he is the biggest winner of the Experimental Awards of 2005. But I want to thank everyone who took part in the Experiment in 2005 and I hope to see more of you in 2006. Who knows, you may already be a winner.
