Conservatives know shit-all about media. Liberals, the NDP, the Bloc and the Greens may know just as much. But Conservatives know shit-all. First off, NealeNews is a conservative news aggregator. And who does Neale News site as being “news”? None other than Small Brained Animals. The reason for this is because CTV made a mistake. Whether it is intentional or not is beside the point. SDA claims that it was a “Freudian slip” when the author of the CTV site wrote something to the effect of suggesting that the Conservatives where going to make some ads that mislead the Canadian people. But this is not news. Of course the media is slanted one way or another. I don’t hear the Conservatives complaining about the Globe and Mail or the National Post. But the CBC or CTV? OH MY GOD!!!!
I mean SDA and others are “outraged” by the pictures of Harper that appear in the news. Supposedly someone hates Harper enough to simply make his eyes look more white than normal. If it was me photo-shopping Harper’s eyes I would make them glow red. Or I would add red-eye. But such is life. If you are a Conservative in Canada then you are a persecuted Conservative in Canada.
Case in point, if the Liberals have a picture of your leader talking to a separatist then it is a smear campaign in the worst degree. This is especially true if the photo was taken during a Holocaust memorial. Because if the photo was taken at a Holocaust memorial then it is supposedly off-limits. Get over yourselves. It is a photo taken where Harper is talking to Duceppe. It could have been anywhere. It could have been for any reason. Harper could have been asking for directions to the bathroom. It is a photo where Harper and Duceppe were sharing a moment. Whether it was in reflection on the horrors of war or on the fact that everyone poops, it was still a moment. But Conservatives are a touchy-feely persecuted group and must be coddled because they still suck at their mother’s teat.
I went to the Blogging Tories and took a look around to see what else is being said about the “Main Stream Media” or, as it is classily called by the Conservashits, the MSM. And it appears they don’t like the media at all. But some are of the opinion that the MSM will “suck up” to whoever is likely to win.
The thing that intrigues me the most is that those who say the CBC is a liberal mouth-piece will also say that no one actually watches or listens to the CBC. Conservatives will also say that they are the majority in Canada (at least some do) but that the MSM is anti-Conservative. If the MSM is Liberal and Canada is Conservative why would people continue to get their news from a Liberal media that hates their perspectives?
The Conservatives know jack-shit about the media. They claim that anything reported about them is negative; that images of their illustrious leader are photo-shopped; and that the media caters to who is projected as winning.
According to the Conservative perspective news and commentary are the same thing. Neale News confirms this by posting a link to SDA as being news. This blurred line is the outrageous thing. Kate’s posts on SDA are not news, they are commentary on news and the news reporters. Albeit very biased, Kate has the right to post her comments. But because here comments are commentary, they are not news. But bitch bitch bitch, the MSM is evil. But only when it says something or appears to say something against what you believe.
So what has come out of the alleged “photo-shot scandal”? Or of the “Liberal Conspiracy to Yell at the US”? Nothing. It was not news. It will not be news. And if it was news it does not do or change anything. But that does not change anything. Yelling and screaming at the MSM is not news any more than The Experiment is news.
If Small Dead Animals is news then the greatest news source is Small Dead Animals V2.0. The original SDA is an ugly looking blog. V2.0 is much better to look at, more interesting, and actually has something to say even if it is using Kate’s own words. But, alas, the Conservashits know shit-all about news and the news media. They just know how to whine and bitch. I just wish someone could teach them to suck it up. The least they could do is explain, in human terms, why they think they are right rather than why complaining. At least then we may have a dialogue about their ideas. As long as they bitch and complain about photo-shopped eyes that were not photo-shopped, or a typo here or there they will continue being those arrogant, self-absorbed, self-righteous, persecuted Conservashits.

I think you have some argumentative problems here. The claim is “the media is biased” and not “news is biased.” I don’t know where you get that people claim a commentary is news. Commentary is a part of the media and the media is biased. Understand your argumentive problem? You are implying as if people are saying that the media is the news, commentary is news, therefore the media is biased. That’s not however the case.
Conservatives are saying not that there are not conservative rags out there. But instead that overall the media is biased towards the left.
There’s a reason for this. Universities are liberal institutions. Most people who work for the media have gone to university. The people that are influenced by them and the views they take are going to be liberal. Do not forget that most of the Canadian media is based out of Atlantic Canada and Ontario. If CBC was to hire on more Albertans and Manitobans it is likely that it would swing closer to the right.

You said that I said that people said A = B, C=B, therefore C=A. I do see what you are saying. But what I am saying is that this is true. All news is commentary. A person reporting the goings-on at a sporting event have their biases and are reporting the game but they may wish one team to win and one to lose. Listen to the announcers at a Blue Bombers game some time. They are reporting the “news” of the game but they are purely commentary.
Your argument that it is because the news media have gone to university that the media favours the left. This, however, does not explain how the majority of news in the US is more right-wing than in Canada. This does not explain why a majority of left-leaning pre-law students graduate university and are now right-leaning. This does not explain why the print media in Canada is more right-leaning and the video media is more left. Are you saying that more TV journalists go to university than do the newspaper journalists?
The problem is not so much that the news is commentary or that the media is biased but that people seem to think that because they have a perspective that it must be right and therefore it must be told to the world by some TV reporter. If someone says or does something, no matter how small or insignificant, that hurts their cause they feel they must yell and scream. But it is impossible for the journalists to be dispassionate in their reporting. They have a perspective. To report on the horrors of war without being somewhat human about it the reporter has loses all perspective. To report on election promises dispassionately the reporter ends up being a sales-person for that candidate. To report, for example, the cut in GST without making mention of what that actually would mean would be to betray the position of a news reporter. There is a perspective that the reporter must include.
Paul, if Univeristies are liberal institutions that make liberals then why is it that Harper was a Trudeau liberal until he went to univeristy where he then learned the value of being a conservative?

Trudeau was an NDP member before he moved to the Liberals and became their leader. If that is what you are suggesting by the word “Communist” then yes, yes he was.
But Trudeau wanted to do away with the Dept of Indian Affairs. He wanted everyone in Canada to be equal. And equal means there is absolutely no provision for a “special” status. The Aboriginal peoples did not like his “white paper” and started a protest and effectively stopped it. But is that not what some conserveratives would want to happen anyway?
